Duo Exhibition – Megan Sharkey & Maria Carbunaru, ‘Protected Areas / Áreas Protegidas’, Biblioteca Municipal de Santa Cruz da Graciosa, Azores, Portugal

‘Protected Areas’ was an exhibition showcasing the work of a poet and a visual artist concluding a multidisciplinary residency on Graciosa. 

Looking at the themes of renewal, communion and solitude, the artists used the lenses of ecopsychology and hand-work to enter a dialogue with the island. 

Their reflections make the textile speak and the lyrics weave into a momentary song of the place.
